Weiyi Peng

Director

Weiyi Peng is the director of the Drug Discovery Institute and the Interim Director of the Center for Nuclear Receptors & Cell Signaling. Peng is an associate professor in the Department of Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Houston. She earned her M.D. from Tongji Medical University in China, followed by a Ph.D. in Immunology from Baylor College of Medicine. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center. 

Her research focuses on understanding the immune system’s role in the development of chronic diseases such as cancer, autoimmune disorders, and neurodegenerative diseases. Her work aims to translate these insights into innovative therapeutic approaches to improve patient outcomes.
