UH-CELL

Together with the UH Drug Discovery Institute, the DoD Convergent Science Cancer Consortium invites applications for this summer undergraduate internship program in immune cell therapy (UH-Cell). The program is designed to enable students to learn immunotherapies and specifically cell-based therapies for the treatment of cancers.

The programs runs from May 26 to July 31 and aims to provide transformative hands-on research experiences to undergraduate students with diverse background including biology, mathematics, physics, pharmacy and engineering.

Applications Open

Applications for the 2026 UH-CELL program are now open. The priority deadline is Monday, March 9, 2026, and the final application and letter of recommendation deadline is Monday, March 16, 2026.

Program Highlights

  • Target Audience: Rising sophomore through seniors with a GPA of 3.0 or higher (extenuating circumstances considered).
  • Stipend: 
    • $3,000 for the 8-week program for students to perform research at UH or MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston).
    • $5,500 for 8-week program for students to perform research at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (Nashville, TN). The extra stipend is to offset the cost associated with travel and lodging.
