2024 Conference

The 2024 American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Cardiovascular Scientific (BCVS) Sessions took place in Chicago, Illinois, from July 22 to July 25. At this event, UH-CURE fellows had the opportunity to engage with other passionate scientists, delving into discussions and presentations on the latest therapeutics for cardiovascular diseases.

“The 10 weeks I’ve spen[t] in UH-CURE have taught me about research and health care in a way no other internship or program has before. Being truly immersed in research for this summer, living on campus, and temporarily revolving my life and social circle around research has ... been an eye-opening experience that I am very grateful and privileged to have received.”

"

“This program has positively impacted me in a variety of ways. Through time spent in the lab, in workshops, and at the conference, I have deepened my understanding of cardiovascular research and acquired several skills that will benefit me as a student and future physician.”

"Being a part of UH-CURE allowed me to actively understand more about cardiovascular diseases (CVD) through research, workshops, and the AHA BCVS 2024 Conference. Applying myself to an unfamiliar environment was initially complicated since I had never been in a research lab setting, seen new equipment like it, or met researchers from various parts of the country and the world. Nevertheless, being guided by my lab and UH-CURE undergraduate cohort members throughout this journey and discovering new fields of understanding caused a shift in my future."
